Strategia Goes Agile to Meet Client Demands for Shorter Product Development Cycles
LONGUEUIL, Quebec – January 5, 2008. In today’s fast-paced marketplace,
developing software using the traditional inflexible development models just wasn’t
fast enough for Strategia to keep pace with evolving customer requirements and significant
competitive pressures.
Commenting on Strategia’s adoption and implementation of the Agile software development method,
Line Savard, the company’s Executive Vice President stated: “We searched for best
practices in software development and opted for the Scrum approach within the Agile methodology.
We felt that Scrum’s short development cycles and focused approach would bring us closer
to our clients and help us deliver value more quickly.” Scrum has a solid track record

Nokia, Microsoft, Federal Reserve Bank, and Motorola.
Scrum is a process that is used to manage and control complex software and product development
projects by breaking down the requirements into smaller projects usually completed within
30 day sprints. These short development cycles enable the possibility of re-prioritizing
features and re-directing or refining development based on evolving customers’ schedules
and requirements. Customers can regularly view sprint demos and provide direct feedback
to the development team so that the software that is produced more closely corresponds to
the end user’s needs.
These regular development cycles assist Strategia in more accurately measuring its production
capacity and predicting release dates. Continuous quality improvement is achieved by conducting
a retrospective analysis after each sprint. The entire process allows for more communications
between the development team members and stronger motivation to create better products.
